Job Description:
V2X is searching for a Sr. Director of Application Services (DAS). The DASs primary responsibility is to oversee all business applications and related activities. This individuals principal goals are to develop and manage application portfolios for each department and to attain all IT service level agreements for the user community within the organization.

The Director of Application Services role is to supervise and maintain the organizations repository of software applications through best practices and the appropriate staffing and management of a technical team. This individual will apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist the user group on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems. This role reports to the CIO.

The Director of Application Services will plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the application department, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. The Director of Application Services will work closely with decision-makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications:

  • Bachelors. degree in Business Administration, Management, Project Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field AND a minimum of 18+ years of experience in a Microsoft-heavy technology environment, including 2-3 years of practical professional experience in project management
  • Experienced with designing, implementing, and maintaining SharePoint environments
  • Fundamental understanding of web-based systems programming and development
  • Proficient with MS Project or similar software and MS Office applications
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional project teams
  • Ability to adjust and set priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to effectively manage staff
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Strong persuasion and negotiation skills, including conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a professional manner with technology staff, business stakeholders, end users, management, and others outside the organization
  • Ability to work independently
  • Self-motivated with the ability to drive projects
  • Experience estimating project costs

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that applications meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues
  • Review and analyze existing applications' effectiveness and efficiency, and then develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems
  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application-usage best practices
  • Research and make recommendations on software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts
  • Evaluate new applications, systems software, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise
  • Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications
  • Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality
  • Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system and security compliance, and interface specifications
  • Coordinate feasibility studies for software and system products under consideration for purchase, and give advice based on findings
  • Contribute to the pre-testing phase of development by evaluating proposals to identify potential problem areas and make the appropriate recommendations
  • Liaise with the company's software suppliers for prompt recertification of any problems or emergencies.
  • Manage and provide direction for the application team in support of business operations
  • Liaise with network administrators and software engineers to assist with quality assurance, program logic, and data processing
  • Compile and maintain inventory of company software and systems
