Job Description:
The Senior Director of Infrastructure (SDI) is in a critical leadership position as V2X integrates the business after the current merger with Vertex Aerospace and Vectrus. The SDI will work across the other senior organizations in IT, including Applications, Innovation, Cyber Security, Service Delivery, and Project Incline. This close integration is to support the V2X transformation of IT Services into a single entity as well as to support current programs. The SDI must be a leader of change throughout the organization. As V2X integrates multiple business units, the SDI must be prepared to lead an organization through the change via consistent communication, training, fostering innovation, and keeping the organization focused. The SDI will be the owner of the 5-year strategy for Infrastructure Operations and is expected to provide an action plan within 90 days of start. The successful candidate will be able to display the ability in the past to build and execute both a long- and short-term strategy. In addition to strategy, the SDI will be the owner of the budget for the IT Infrastructure Operations. The role is a direct report to the CIO of V2X. The role is a direct report to the CIO of V2X

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities will include Information Technology Infrastructure, Group Management 1. Conducts performance management activities for direct reports. The Senior Director of IT Infrastructure position is responsible for providing the overall technical direction the company takes in the evaluation and selection of computing and communications hardware and software products, consulting with and advising senior management members on technology issues requisite to the needs of the business, and implementing and maintaining reliable and cost-effective computer and communications technologies that support business requirements. This position is responsible for all aspects of planning and managing corporate and plant IT Infrastructure. The role will be responsible for network and server operations and corporate consulting services.

  • Develops and maintains hiring standards and training/development programs that ensure that the IT department maintains a high level of technical skill and proficiency
  • Mentoring of direct reports is expected and mentoring beyond direct reports is encouraged
  • Conducts performance management activities for direct reports and ensures that processes are followed for employees in the department
  • Monitors task assignments and completions to ensure timely and quality performance
  • Provides technical and administrative guidance as required to ensure project progress
  • Evaluates, acquire, implement, and maintains computer and communications infrastructure strategy that supports the needs of the company
  • Selects products and services that merit evaluation and/or implementation, based on business and technical judgment, subject to resources available and a P&L need
  • Reports evaluation and implementation results to senior management and other individuals as appropriate
  • Evaluates computing hardware and software for consistency with business requirements, ease of use, technical and end-user support requirements
  • Creates, publishes, and follows standards and guidelines for infrastructure operations
  • Speaking knowledge of public cloud technologies and modern, emerging technology capabilities
  • Proven ability to drive change through the delivery of cross-matrixed organizations
  • Ability to evaluate and communicate strategy, operational health, and incident action plans to executive leadership
  • Demonstrates strong executive presence and strategic thinking skills
  • Demonstrates strong financial acumen – ability to construct business cases to secure strategic initiatives

Job Requirements:
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in systems and computer sciences or a related field required. A Master's Degree in systems and computer sciences or a related field is strongly preferred
  • The new Senior Director should have a minimum of 18 years of IT Operations experience AND 5+ years of experience working within the ITIL Frameworks and leading an ITSM tool and/or process team
  • Must be highly knowledgeable in computer and communications hardware and software, as well as in-depth knowledge of data center operations
  • Experience in managing SLAs, OLAs, and KPIs via service management tools
  • A thorough understanding of the interdependence of systems and their impact on the business
  • Understanding of the quality assurance, risk management, and security considerations and their impact on the overall technology environment
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle and agile operating models
  • Strong process management and problem-resolution skills
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience in business systems and process planning
  • Ability to understand and communicate the lifecycle of technologies and applications and to translate them into business strategies for the client organizations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas in easy-to-understand business terms
  • Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships, effective controls, and leading in a managed service environment
  • Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
