This is a fabulous opportunity for a dedicated and inspiring person to join the school team at Chartham which is part of Inspira Academy Trust. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate teaching assistant to join the school’s successful and supportive team.  Whilst experience, especially of Early Years/Keys Stage one, is desirable. It is not essential.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading groups of children in focus interventions
  • Supporting children in achieving the lesson objective in literacy, maths and across all areas of the curriculum
  • Feeding back to the class teacher and sometimes keeping records of progress and behaviour, i.e. Tapestry 
  • Working with different year groups to support any social, emotional, behavioural or medical needs
  • Preparing resources and some administrative work
  • Displaying children's work creatively
  • Lunch duty
  • Some cover supervision.

Above all, you need to be determined to help our children achieve their best, and be prepared to put their needs first. Children will be at the heart of your work. You must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child within a creative and innovative school setting.

The postholder is required to work for 38 weeks per year. In addition, the postholder will receive a payment in respect of their pro rata entitlement to Annual Leave appropriate to their grade, Bank Holidays and the KCC concessionary day

Information about the school

Chartham Primary is situated in a rural setting in the large village of Chartham. The school moved to two-form entry permanently in September 2020 and has a roll of approximately 380.

We have extensive playing fields, plenty of space for outdoor learning and multiple Forest School areas. We also have a school radio station.

We pride ourselves in providing an enriched curriculum for our pupils in a fully inclusive environment. Our staff team are committed to providing the best possible education for each child and working in partnership with parents. We are proud to hold the IQM award for Inclusion and had a very successful Ofsted inspection in October 2019.

Chartham Primary School and St Stephen's Infant School have shared Executive Leadership arrangements with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Finance Officer and HR Officer working across the two schools. Building on this relationship, we converted to a Multi-Academy Trust, Inspira, on the 1st April 2021.
