About the team

Harlow College Supported Studies students receive an outstanding level of learning support from the Support Worker team. The team works alongside staff to assess and support the learning needs of students in a variety of settings and off-site locations. Our staff have the specialist skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality, personalised support that effectively meets the needs of learners.

About the role

Under the direction of the delivery staff or outside employers, the Support Worker will provide practical learning guidance, personal care support and employment training for individual learners or small groups of learners who have a variety of learning difficulties to enable then to take full advantage of their opportunities moving in to adulthood and towards independence.

What we are looking for

You will need to have experience of working with young people with learning difficulties or disabilities and an awareness of diverse learner needs. Ideally you will be educated to a minimum of Level 2 Maths & English with good IT skills and have experience of working within an educational environment.

We are looking for a highly motivated and flexible individual who is organised and able to motivate our learners, particularly in the work place. The workplace may be a variety of settings and can include retail, warehouse, outdoor work and office work. The successful applicant will have the ability to work calmly under pressure, communicate with people at all levels, demonstrate a positive and inclusive manner and will be solution focused. Excellent team-working and record-keeping skills are also essential.

Flexibility of working hours would be a requirement in line with the needs of the work placement. There is a need to travel to different locations, often on public transport with the student, however the ability to drive is also desirable.
