Salary:                      £50,000 to £56,000 + excellent benefits


We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Subcontract Programme Manager supporting a business who provide systems engineering, software development, training solutions and complex program management for global security, civil and commercial markets. This role will focus on naval and maritime programmes and will provide you with a platform to influence and make a difference.


Subcontract Programme Manager Role

  • Oversee the development of subcontract specifications, work statements, and terms and conditions for the procurement of specialised materials, equipment, and services for subcontracts.

  • You will need to have a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts, in the field; for example Prepares bid packages, conducts bidders' conferences, develops evaluation criteria, analyses and evaluates proposals, selects or recommends subcontractors, writes subcontract packages for review, assist with preparing awards and administers resulting subcontracts.

  • Assist with coordinating additions, deletions, or modifications to subcontracts.

  • Participate with contracts administration and purchasing to develop subcontract policies and procedures


Subcontract Programme Manager skills and experience

  • Supplier and/or Programme/Project Management Experience, preferably gained within the defence sector

  • Self starter – works under only general direction.  Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.

  • Demonstrable Risk and Opportunity management experience

  • Ability to manage and control scope using change control processes

  • Supplier management and negotiation experience with supplier performance analysis skill set

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task (position may include programme execution and proposal support efforts) across multiple programmes/platforms

  • Problem solving – provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.

  • Liaison capability - inter-organisational and outside customer contacts.  Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

  • Experience of creating schedules and managing internal and external parties to the schedule

  • Commercial awareness
