My client is looking for a Shift Manager to cover a double day shift Monday to Friday for their plant in Pontefract. The focus on the role is to supervise, develop and coach Production Team Leaders through their operatives to deliver against performance and quality objectives. You will also on a shift basis take responsibility for leading and promoting continuous improvement in production, safety and quality metrics and provide leadership to operations teams on site.

Duties include:

Supervise, develop, and coach employees

Continuous improvement via systemic change based on data and root cause (i.e., Data analysis and   improvement / correction plans)

Ownership and control of all quality related issues on their shifts.

Complete scorecard where necessary

Lead zero harm and zero-defect identifying areas of weakness and plan development

Conduct tours in the Management Observation Tool (MOT)

Lead root cause analysis of all incidents that happen on shift

Encourage others to perform

Recognise change as necessary and willingly share knowledge across business areas

Adapt and learn in new situations

Work closely with the Yard and Service Manager taking Control Yard (When necessary) and Warehouse movements delegating relevant tasks to FLT (Forklift Truck) drivers bearing in mind warehouse needs as well as the site turnaround times

Hold daily shift briefs and report plant KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)

Monitor and ensure consistent, timely responses to all relating to zero harm and production

Monitor absence levels and dealing with employees in the correct manner when triggers are made

Attend plant leadership team (PLT) meetings and morning meetings daily

Promote the ethics and principles of lean, 5S, Six Sigma and teamwork through communication and example setting

Ensure all permanent employees and agency staff's hours are recorded per shift for payroll

Owning the controls on safety, quality, productions, and consumable controls

Understand the needs of the customer and develop an agenda to meet their needs

Organise and control contractors on site where necessary

Monitor and record employees' holidays
