Overview of role


This is an exciting new opportunity to lead a team working on one of the biggest advertisers in the UK. The client is a firm believer in the power of media and has huge ambition to deliver effective and brilliant work.

The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day account, be involved in end-to-end media planning including annual planning, lead a planning team, and deliver idea-first media solutions to an accommodating, fair and friendly client team.


The role is focused on Sky Mobile, a fast-growing MNO which recently hit 3M customers and is looking to keep a positive growth trajectory. Long-term ambitions are to be the#1 Mobile operator in Sky homes by 2025 in UK (and ROI) and media will be a critical way in which we deliver this. This is a great opportunity to work with big budgets, a dynamic team and have an appetite to drive innovation.


The candidate should have experience using insights and planning tools to ensure our plans are digital-first, founded in insight and set-up to test & learn.


We are looking for someone with a media agency background, who has experience of leading high performing teams and a combination of excellent strategic skills and creative flair. You will have a keen understanding of digital channels (paid, owned and earned) and their strategic role in delivering business outcomes, as well as AV, audio and OOH. The role encompasses both brand and performance so experience in both is desirable.

Reporting of the role


This role reports to the Business Director and has a close relationship with the Partner and Managing Partner of the business unit, as well as key members of the agency leadership team.

You will lead a team of 4 comms planners & work closely with our digital and investment counterparts, business science and other specialist functions within the agency, as well as external creative agencies.

Measures of success


In three months, you would have:

  • Embedded yourself within the wider team and built strong and collaborative relationships with your key client counterparts, your direct reports and partner agencies
  • Overseen the team and planning product, challenging the work internally to ensure the best solutions are put in front of the client


In six months, you would have:

  • Set the conditions for the team with clear goals, objectives, and development plans
  • Built strong relationships across theagency including key departments
  • Delivered a strategic response to a client brief in close collaboration with the Strategy Director, your team and integrated with agency partners



In 12 months, you would have:

  • Act as a leader, defining and representing the department and agency culture
  • Delivered award shortlisted work which contributes to the growth of Sky Mobile
  • Embedded in the wider agency and participated in wider planning initiatives or new business
  • Taken the lead on annual planning for Sky Mobile, setting the direction for their approach



Responsibilities of the role


  • Lead the account team and channel planners/buyers, responsible for the development and progression of the team and making it the team that everyone wants to be a part of.
  • Oversee comms planning from the strategy through to reporting and analysis. Act as the agency lead in cross agency collaboration.
  • The client loves innovation and is always open to new ideas and has budgets to support new initiatives. A key part of the role is to constantly challenge the work internally to ensure we are delivering innovative and measurable solutions to Sky Mobile’s challenges
  • Build close relationships with key clients and ensure the agency delivers against the SLA.


What you will need


  • Excellent leadership capability, both internally within the agency and with senior clients.
  • An analytical and inquisitive mindset, a passion for the industry.
  • Comms planning expertise with an in depth understanding of the role for paid, owned, and earned media channels and their contribution to business outcomes.
  • Creative flair to enable campaign ideas to stand out and cut through a cluttered marketplace.
  • Excellent communication skills, including leading cross agency teams and communicating effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritise key work streams.
  • You will have led client contact and will have been responsible for delivering best in class performance across AV, audio, digital and OOH channels, to meet both brand and performance KPIs.
