Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic individuals, to work within the Diagnostic Imaging department at Ipswich Hospital.

Your duties will include assisting the staff with patient care, involving direct patient contact and assisting Radiographers within the department.

Both full and part time hours are available on either a fixed term or substantive basis.

Main duties of the job

You will also be expected to assist in maintaining a clean and safe working environment. You will perform administrative duties including inputting patient information onto the computerised patient information system, as well as maintaining agreed stock levels of consumables used in the department.

The working pattern will be discussed with the successful applicants. You must possess excellent communication and Information Technology skills, and be a good team player.

You will need to be able to work under your own initiative but with a high level of supervision and with good support. Appropriate training will be given.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be undertaking a broad range of activities extending through manual, unskilled tasks to technical and patient orientated duties as required by the workflow within the imaging service.

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria

Current experience working in the care sector in a public/patient facing role

Working with a variety of service uses who may have complex healthcare needs

Working within a fast-paced, constantly changing environment

Accuracy with taking and relaying verbal messages

Understands need for accuracy both in completing tasks and record keeping

Desirable criteria

Current experience working within and supporting clinical staff working Imaging modalities such as ED, CT scan, plain film area and ultrasound

Experience of working with patients across all age ranges and with varying needs in terms of language skills and physical capabilities

Experience with using CRIS/PACS and CR systems advantageous

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Numeracy and literacy skills

Moving & Handling updated training

Desirable criteria

Evidence of further/extended training e.g. NVQ 2 and cannulation training

Transfer of the Critically ill or basic O2 training would be advantageous

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Up to date basic IT skills

Self-awareness of own limitations

Desirable criteria

Basic life support training

Infection control and prevention training
