Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK with a nationwide network of rehoming centres and charity shops. Last year, Dogs Trust centres cared for over 15,000 dogs; we never put a healthy dog down.

Outreach Projects runs several projects supporting pet owners who are homeless or in housing crisis in the UK, this includes the Freedom Project, a pet fostering service for people fleeing domestic abuse. However, most of our referrals come from women fleeing domestic abuse via women-only services. The service places dogs into volunteer foster homes on a temporary basis until their owners are able to be reunited with them. The Freedom Project runs in Greater London & the Home Counties, Yorkshire, the North East, the North West, East Anglia, Wales and Scotland, with further expansion planned for the Midlands in 2023.

The Freedom Project Support Coordinator, provides support with external communications and coordinating all enquiries coming into the Freedom Project, providing support to the wider Freedom Project team and being a dedicated support contact and coordinator for 500+ volunteers involved in the service.

This role is split between providing initial support and assessing enquiries for a variety of stakeholders (mainly over the phone and by email), including victim-survivors accessing the project, referral & domestic abuse organisations, volunteers, members of the public, veterinary surgeries, and internal contacts.

The role also acts as the main volunteer coordinator to support with the recruitment, retention and reward for all volunteer foster carers involved in the project.  They will lead on organising and delivering all regular volunteer communications and activities, such as writing and designing newsletters, organising and delivering webinars and training sessions, and supporting with volunteer feedback through our monitoring and evaluation framework.

Due to the nature of this role, this post is for women only and is exempt under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010
