Symphony’s finance team is growing, and we are looking for a Financial Operations Specialist to oversee the payroll and expense reimbursement functions. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process and own US and international payroll processing for 300+ employees and growing
  • Coordinate with HR and third-party payroll providers to ensure compliance with US and international jurisdictions and data accuracy for both new and existing employees
  • Partner with HR to conduct bi-weekly new hire orientation
  • Oversee electronic timesheet submission as applicable
  • Respond to employee inquiries and serve as liaison between employee and third-party payroll providers
  • Prepare payroll journal entries and assist with monthly and annual accounting close activities
  • Review and manage employee expense reports (including corporate cards) to ensure that expenses are within company policy and adequate documentation is maintained
  • Reconcile all credit card and expense payable accounts 
  • Develop and implement processes, policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls, efficiency and a great employee experience
  • Document policies and procedures on internal Confluence page
  • Review processes and systems to streamline and reduce processing time where possible
  • Assist with year-end annual audits
  • Assist in any ad-hoc projects, as needed 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 3 years experience in accounting with at least 1 year in payroll processing; start-up experience preferred 
  • Experience with payroll providers such as ADP, WorkDay, and Blue Marble preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite and Concur preferred 
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources or relevant field
  • Strong attention to detail, learns quickly, adaptable and flexible
  • Ability to resolve open issues to closure
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work under conditions of pressure and adjust to urgent situations
  • Ability to work in a creative and dynamic environment with a high volume of transactions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
