An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join HUC in the Contracts Management Team as an experienced Contracts Officer.

We are looking for a flexible, and affable person who is able to build and maintain strong relationships, whilst ensuring robust contract management processes are in place to enable delivery of services in line with the terms and conditions of the contracts.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong partnership working with a range of stakeholders and have the ability to analyse very complex issues whilst remaining solution focused.

The successful candidate will need excellent communication and negotiation skills and an ability to build relationships across a variety of stakeholders. You will need to be self-motivated and have the ability to work in a fast paced, innovative, and sometimes pressured environment and will be required to demonstrate excellent organisational and project/contract management skills.

This post is offered as a 1 year fixed term position or as a secondment opportunity and offers the NHS pension scheme.

Main duties:

  • Experience in developing, managing, and reviewing contracts, be experienced in developing briefing papers, and correspondence, be highly organised and structured with great attention to detail plus experience of developing and implementing systems and processes.
  • Working with and supporting the Contract Management Team with overall responsibility for managing and maintaining the contracts register. Manage a portfolio of contracts and support the Contract Management Team in the negotiation and performance management of all contracts across the organisation.
  • Support or lead the negotiation on a portfolio of contracts as part of the annual business cycle, developing a contracting plan that meets contract sign-off timetables and ensure that contract documentation is prepared correctly and to a high standard.
  • Monitor performance of contracts against KPIs and other contractual obligations, with variances in performance and other issues explored, and actions identified and implemented, with continued review until completion/resolution.
