The company operates internationally in the communications, defence, security and government services market and is established as a world-leader in digital signal and video processing on embedded systems.
The company is building upon the commercial success achieved to date and is seeking an experienced Buyer with responsibility for purchasing parts and material for the business. Responsibilities will include processing purchasing requisitions and purchase orders, tracking orders and maintaining inventory. The Buyer will work with staff across various departments to meet the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on the demand & inventory status.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Carry out transactional purchase orders based on internal requirements using an MRP system.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers to ensure that quality, cost and lead time requirements are satisfied.
- Support internal stakeholders by ensuring that all quality, lead time and cost requirements are clearly defined before requesting quotations and/or committing to the purchase of goods with suppliers.
- Independently identify purchasing requirements based on both firm and forecasted production schedules.
- Expedite existing order book
- Monitor and adjust orders with scheduled deliveries to ensure that availability of parts satisfies internal demands, whilst minimising excess inventory.
- Regularly communicate the status of open orders to internal stakeholders.
- Support with the communication and rectification of non-conforming parts received from suppliers.
- Contribute to the continual development of internal processes to improve productivity, reduce risk, and generate value within the organisation.
- Support internal auditing activities to ensure that processes are being followed and/or to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support with other duties within the operations department as required
Requirements:
- Proficient in Microsoft office tools – Excel, Word & Powerpoint
- Proficient or has experience in the use of MRP software – SAP, Microsoft Dynamics etc
- Able to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders via written and verbal means.
