Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed, enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 6 Registered Nurse to join us at Felixstowe Community Hospital. The ward specialises in the rehabilitation of patients and facilitating the safe and effective discharge of patients to various destinations following the Discharge to Assess Model.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and well-motivated Band 6 Registered Nurse. You will work as a member of the multi professional team and will assist with patient assessment to determine patient need and help to implement patient care. Ensuring the highest standard of clinical care and discharge planning to meet the needs of the patient. Provide day-to-day supervision and management of safe practice; supporting and deputising for the line manager in their absence. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with other professionals in the community.

You will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate recent professional development.  We are a progressive forward thinking ward aiming to offer the highest standard of individualised care for our patients.

Main duties of the job

To work within the framework for Clinical Governance to provide effective, high quality individualised nursing care to patients and relatives/carers and to contribute to the continuing development of nursing practice.

To work within the Trust’s Competency Framework for Registered Nurses, the Ward/ Department Philosophy and the NMC Code of Conduct/ Professional Standards for the Protection of Patients.

Works with others to improve service delivery, proposes changes to practice and takes further action to implement agreed changes.

Provide day-to-day supervision and management of safe practice; supporting and deputising for the line manager in their absence.

Actively promotes the workplace as a learning environment, manage resource issues affecting learning and support all learners as mentor, assessor or role model.

To support and implement the integration of clinical governance into all aspects of patient care delivery.

Maintain and develop a healthy and safe environment promoting effective and efficient teamwork that encompasses equality and diversity and respect for the individual.

Ensure training and development needs detailed in your personal development plan are followed up and the effectiveness of the acquired training and development evaluated in terms of self, patient and service.
