The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is currently expanding its portfolio and wishes to create a new associate professor post in Genetic and Genomics Counselling in the School of Health Sciences. This is to contribute to the growth of the research culture within the health and medical community at Surrey. Developing Genetic and Genomic Counselling will further enable multi-disciplinary research underpinning the University of Surrey’s Research Strategy, and the key One Health, One Medicine focus of the Faculty. Overall, this portfolio of teaching and research is expected to contribute to our commitment to support the development of the health workforce and have a direct impact on the way genetics and genomics is understood, communicated and implemented in both education and healthcare settings.
The School of Health Sciences is one of the largest schools in the University and was ranked 3rd in England for Nursing (Complete University Guide, 2022). As a vibrant School it is a core contributor to the University vision to deliver excellence in teaching and the student experience. The School is located in a newly refurbished facility on Manor Park with state-of-the-art teaching and learning technology including its Simulation and Clinical Skills Centre. The school is a leading provider of undergraduate and postgraduate education and is in the top 10 in the UK for research following the last Research Excellence Framework assessment.
